Description

 I must be tough
I must behave, I must keep fighting
Don't give it up
I want to keep us compromising

Open your arms and pray
To the truth that you're denying
Give in to the game
To the sense that you've been hiding</i>

About this deviation

I'm so so happy with this!
It all came together so well, and the filters just worked so easily! It was a dream come true to work with xD
I took a much needed break from all the painting commissions I have, and threw this together. Got one other manip to do before I get back to my painting hole D:
Any comments are much appreciated, especially if you can find any faults that I can fix!

Composition: not quite balanced, which may be intentional. The horse is slightly to the right of center, which in my mind's eye lends a tension to the piece. This is, or can be, a good thing.

Tones: a wide range, from nearly-black to (apparently) white; mostly in mid-range. I haven't sampled the image to verify my impression, but it looks as if it's nearly all a single tone, near sepia; with a very slight admixture of blue or some other high-spectrum color. A fine, quiet effect. Concentrating the dark tones in the right half, particularly to the right of the horse's head and neck, supports or emphasizes the composition's off-center/dynamism.

Photorealism: the horse's mane and tail appear to be made of individually-modeled tapered cylinders or cones. This creates, for me, the impression that both are wet: quite appropriate in this setting. Hair or fur is challenging in 3D art. My opinion. The horse's impact on the water is rather well-handled, although an expert could probably tell how the transition between horse and water could be improved.

Nitpicking: the snowflakes seem to be perfectly circular. This is - highly unusual. If they're not snowflakes, perhaps they look too much like snowflakes.

But that's nitpicking.

Overall, this strikes me as a well-thought-out image.
